Suspect sought in armed robbery at Warwick smoke shop

Posted

Warwick police are working to identify a suspect in an armed robbery at Wonderland Smoke Shop on Tuesday night.

Police say the suspect was hiding behind a dumpster in the rear parking lot of the 666 East Ave. establishment when he jumped out to confront another man who was going to his truck. The suspect is said to have displayed a three-inch knife and made multiple threats to stab the victim.

The suspect escaped with an undetermined amount of cash taken from the victim, police said.

The suspect is described as a white male with a thin or narrow face, standing approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a thin build. The man was wearing a black hoodie with an eagle or winged design on its front and black pants.

Prior to the robbery, police say the suspect had been observed in front of the store on the opposite side of the street. He is said to have hidden for roughly 15 minutes prior to the robbery.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity or location to call 401-468-4200, ext. 4253. Detectives Patrick McGaffigan and Jeffrey Viveiros are investigating.
