Suspects sought in theft of box truck

Cranston police are seeking two suspects in connection with the May 18 theft of a vehicle from the Malone Plumbing & Heating parking lot at 75 Russe St.

According to officers, surveillance shows a dark blue Dodge minivan with polished, five-spoke mag wheels entering the parking lot. The first suspect, described as a thin man with a beard, exits from the passenger side and attempts to open the door to the building. The man is then seen breaking into a box truck through the passenger door, police say.

At that point, police say the second suspect, described as a larger man, enters the box truck, backs it out of the lot and drives away. The first suspect then re-enters the minivan and drives it off the lot.

The truck was recovered on May 19 in the west end of Providence, according to police, although the tools and materials it had contained – valued at approximately $2,000 – were gone.

Anyone with information regarding the identity or location of the suspects is asked to call Cranston police at 401-942-2211, ext. 5047. Detective John Cardone is investigating.
