(Violent bad cop movie)

Go figure this out. Joyce liked this complicated, violent, bad-cop movie better than I did. I got lost more than once with the multitude of characters, confusing situations and lack of focus. Joyce found the ambitious, intricate plot to be an exciting challenge for the viewer.

Triple 9 is the code for “Cop Down,” meaning every available cop responds. A gang of dirty cops use the code to draw any honest cop left in Atlanta away from their dirty doings.

Kate Winslet has a small role as a Russian Jew who has the dirty cops in the palm of her hand, forcing them to do that “one last job” by stealing secret files, while Woody Harrelson plays a dirty detective.

The movie opens with a violent bank robbery, leaving dead bodies and wrecked cars all over the streets of Atlanta, and closes with another major shootout. In between are violent, bloody attacks in the ghetto, leaving more dead bodies, plus three severed heads on the hood of a car.

There is no moral to this bloodbath of revenge and deception, but there is plenty of action. If you are smarter than me, you may join Joyce in figuring everything out.

Rated a big R, with profanity, violence and nudity.
