Teamed up for solar power

Posted

On Wednesday, May 7, teams of Fidelity employees gave of their time at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence South Side Clubhouse, teaming up with youth to build solar-electric go-karts as part of a S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) learning project. Once done, the teams put their newly created vehicles to the test during a safe, closed-street race. One volunteer, Scott Geyer of Warwick, led a team of Club members from Roger Williams Middle School in Providence in building one of three go-karts. The build happened in the Center for Dynamic Learning’s state-of-the-art Engineering Fabrication Laboratory located in the lower level of the South Side Clubhouse. Here, Geyer (far right) helps Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence members from Roger Williams Middle School assemble some of the final components of their solar-electric go-kart. (Submitted photo)
