Teen book festival planned at Barnes & Noble

Barnes & Noble will host their first B-Fest, a teen book festival, this weekend. Throughout the weekend, teen readers will have the opportunity to meet with local and national authors, participate in writing workshops, trivia and games, as well as the chance to win various book-themed prizes while gaining access to free reading content.

One Trivia Blast winner will also have the chance to be added to the Penguin Teen’s Advanced Reader Copy mailing list for one year.

B-Fest will begin on Friday, June 10 at 6 p.m. with a book signing with author Padma Venkatraman, an award winning American author from Rhode Island. She has three books, Island’s End, A Time to Dance and Climbing the Stairs. Author Kristy Acevedo will also be signing copies of her book, Consider, which follows the story of Alexandra Lucas as she faces the potential end of the world.

At 7 p.m. B-In The Know trivia will begin.

Saturday, June 11, beginning at 11 a.m., will continue with participating teens can “B-First” and gain access to early chapter releases and other sneak peeks of their favorite books, with exciting giveaways while supplies last. Games, giveaways and fun continue at 2 p.m. and local teen Author Jenna O’del will host a book signing of her novel, Hidden Presences. She will also discuss the publication process as a young author.

At 4 p.m. “Living Literature” will begin with a performance of To Kill a Mockingbird and The Giver.

On Sunday, June 12 at 1 p.m., teen participants can visit a book signing with Bill Reynolds for his book Hope: A School, A Team, A Dreamer, which follows the Hope High School basketball team from a “ragtag team” to champions. At 2 p.m. there will be a writing workshop.

The goal of B-Fest is to offer teens a unique and fun experience that encourages their love for reading. The festival will take place on June 10, 11 and 12 at Barnes & Noble, 1350 Bald Hill Road, Warwick. For more information, contact Barnes & Noble at 826-8885 or visit www.facebook.com/bnwarwick.
