Thanksgiving Day run

Posted

Even before the turkey went in the oven in many cases, members of the Warwick Rotary Club were setting up for the club’s first turkey trot Thursday morning at 6 at City Park. Member Thomas Sanford, who worked with the city’s high schools, organized the run on the park’s walking and biking track. Based on their participation, proceeds were shared by the schools and Rotary charities. With uncertainty over the weather and forecasts of snow Wednesday night, the club wrestled with postponing the trot, but took its chances. It turned out to be the right call, for the only snow at the scene was that on the cars of those who had driven to Warwick from west and north of the city. About 100 people walked and ran the trot, returning to start where they enjoyed hot chocolate before returning home to cook and some serious eating. (Warwick Beacon photos)
