Avner the Eccentric, the clown, illusionist, magician, juggler and star of “A Jewel of the Nile,” did his shtick at Trinity.

Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep starred in “The Bridges of Madison County.”

Brown graduate Laura Linney starred in “Congo,” which I called “edge of your seat excitement.”

Val Kilmer, Chris O’Donnell, Nicole Kidman, Tommy Lee Jones and Jim Carrey starred in “Batman Forever.”

Remember Oma and Opa’s German Restaurant on Waterfront Drive in Warwick? They served bratwurst, bauernwurst, rouladen, sauerkraut, german potato salad and red cabbage and had a live German band.

Helen Reddy starred in “Shirley Valentine” at Theatre-by-the-Sea. “Little Rhody’s Big Burlesque,” starring Rhode Island’s own Denise Nolin, followed. Remember Gennifer Flowers? She had a small, rather innocent role in the corny show.

Gaspee Days celebrated its 30th anniversary parade.

Warwick Musical Theatre opened its 41st season with Little Feat. Opening act was Rhode Island’s own John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band.

Brooks and Dunn, having won just about every country music award that year, and they were followed by Trisha Yearwood.

Before the Rhythm & Roots Festival, there was the Big Easy Bash at Stepping Stone Ranch in Escoheag. Chuck Wentworth attracted the best for the sixth year festival, including Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys and Candye Kane and the Swinging Armadillos.

Brown Summer Theatre opened with “Beau Jest.”

We celebrated Father’s Day at Wrights Farm with are three grandchildren. The world-famous chicken dinner was $7.95 for adults and $4.20 for children. We continue the tradition to this day, celebrating our granddaughters’ birthdays. The price has risen, but the chicken is as good as ever.
