Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut was signing all the great acts that used to play the Warwick Musical Theatre, including Steve and Edie, Engelbert, Kenny Rogers, Victor Borge, Don Rickles and Johnny Cash. They also signed up Sinatra and Bennett for May.

Oskar Eustis was chosen over a field of 30 candidates to become artistic director at Trinity Rep.

Cranston’s Ilana Oakes was in the cast of the All Childrens Theatre production of “Peter Pan and Wendy.”

Geena Davis starred in “Angie,” a “well acted soap opera.” Shirley MacLaine and Nicholas Cage starred in “Guarding Tess,” about a special agent who guards the First Lady. Harvey Keitel and Thora Birch starred in “Monkey Trouble,” about a dysfunctional family and their pet monkey.

The Muir String Quartet was back at Rhode Island College for the fifth of their series to complete all of the Beethoven quartets. Twenty years later, they are still performing at RIC.

The Annual Spring Concert of the Cranston Choral Company featured Disney classics at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in Cranston.

The Jazz Tap group, starring 19-year-old Savion Glover, brought down the house at Rhode Island College. RIC continues to bring in quality arts groups that play in some of the most prestigious halls in the world. Check them out.

“Schindler’s List” won the Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Director.
