“Four Weddings and a Funeral” was one of the funniest movies of 1994. It starred Hugh Grant and Andie MacDowell.

Michael Corrente’s “Federal Hill,” starring Nick Turturro, was a big hit in Rhode Island. I’m not sure how it played in Iowa. Trinity actress Phyllis Kay had a good supporting role, along with Margaret Mellozzi, Ed Shea and businessman Brooks Doherty.

Mel Gibson played the title character in “Maverick.”

Governor Francis Inn had a Mother’s Day Brunch Buffet for $7.95 ($5.95 for seniors).

Remember Cucina’s International Bistro next to Busa Wine and Spirits on Post Road? They had great sandwiches, including a roast beef with Brie cheese for $4.95 and prosciutto with mozzarella for $4.50.

Raffi played the Providence Performing Arts Center.

Pianist Jeffrey Biegel delighted the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra audience with an encore of “The Blue Danube” in a completely different tempo.

Warwick Musical Theatre announced its lineup for its 40th season, which included The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Beach Boys, Little Richard, Frankie Valli, Connie Francis, Jerry Seinfeld, Howie Mandel, Bill Cosby, Vince Gill, Wynonna, Chicago and Billy Ray Cyrus. Most of these superstars are still performing 20 years later.

Rose Weaver played Billie Holiday in “Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill” at Trinity Rep.
