The Ben & Jerry’s Folk Festival featured Arlo Guthrie, Randy Newman, Michelle Shocked, Sarah MacLachlan and The Indigo Girls.

The JVC Jazz Festival starred George Benson, Manhattan Transfer, Wynton Marsalis, the Yellowjackets, Cassandra Wilson, David Sanborn, Buddy Guy and, of course, Dave Brubeck.

Warwick Musical Theatre had The Temptations, Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge, The Four Tops, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Wynonna, Jerry Lee Lewis, John Denver, Tony Bennett, Emmylou Harris, Tanya Tucker, Fabian, Frankie Avalon and Bobby Rydell and Regis and Kathy Lee.

At the movies, Jim Carrey starred in “The Mask.” Harrison Ford and James Earl Jones starred in “Clear and Present Danger.”

“Funny Girl” was at Theatre-by-the-Sea. Jeff Modereger did the sets. Cranston actress Hope Pilkington showed her comedic skills as the nosy neighbor, Mrs. Strakosh.

We had Shoney’s all-you-can-eat seafood buffet for $9.99. Papa’s Pizza Patrol on Rolfe St. in Cranston had birch beer on tap.

Brown Summer Theatre presented Canadian playwright David French’s “Silver Dagger” starring Russell Berrigan.

Lee Greenwood headlined the Washington County Fair, singing his classic, “God Bless the USA.” Twenty years later he sang it at Cranston’s Park Theatre.
