The Hangover Part III
Joyce and Don Fowler

THE HANGOVER

PART III

* * *

(Still as gross as ever)

The three stars are for the fans of this gross series, not for Joyce, who refused to go with me. They filled the Seekonk Showcase on a rainy Memorial Day weekend, laughing often at the inappropriate and politically incorrect behavior of Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), Alan (Zack Galifianakis) and Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong). I must admit to laughing at a few of their capers, but after a while Alan really got on my nerves. And Chow plays it so far over the top you want to strangle him.

“Hangover III” is decidedly better than “Hangover II” but will never come close to the original, which is referred to often. Stick around for the credits for another tribute if you really want to be grossed out.

The Wolfpack have agreed to take part in an intervention, taking Alan to some sort of rehab facility for the brainless. Along the way they are ambushed by John Goodman and his hoods who are looking for Chow, who has stolen millions in gold bars from him. Goodman holds the fourth member of the group hostage, forcing the guys to track down Chow and return the gold in return for their buddy’s life. It all gets very silly as they travel to Tijuana and their old stomping grounds, Vegas, where Chow betrays them in a clever scheme to recover the gold. If you’ve seen the trailers, you’ve seen the funniest bit in the movie involving a giraffe. The laughs don’t come close to matching the original.

In the end, Alan finds love with a very familiar comedic actress who can be as gross as any of them.

Rated a very big R, with extreme profanity, drugs, sex, nudity and ultimate grossness.
