(Finale of vampire series)
If you haven't read the books, seen the four previous movies in the saga, or remembered how “Breaking Dawn Part 1” ended, which means most of us over 21, it will take you a while to figure out what is going on in the finale of this popular series.
Part 1 ended with Bella (Kristen Stewart) near death in childbirth. Part 2 opens with Bella recuperating with vampire husband Edward, his vampire friends, and Jacob the werewolf.
Who is this child named Renesmee, and how did she get such a weird name?
Why is the child growing so rapidly?
And where is Bella getting all these super powers that make her stronger and faster than any of the Cullens? And how does she tell her father what's going on?
The sinister Volturi have learned from one of their members that a human child has been born who has been bitten by a vampire. By their laws, she must be destroyed. When the snow sticks, they will come for her.
What to do? Why not gather up all the vampires across the world that each have their own particular gifts and strengths to protect her.
They are still greatly outnumbered by the Volturi. Maybe, with the werewolf clan, they can reason with them and avoid a bloody battle. The two groups meet on an open snowy field as signs all point toward a bloody battle.
If you haven't read the book, we won't spoil what happens next, except to tell you that there is some clever twists. The final chapter is all wrapped up nicely, and should send its loyal fans home satisfied.
While not particular fans of the series, we have to admit that the movie is well made and the script is well written. Due respect is given to all the actors, who are identified both at the beginning and the end of the movie. The cinematography is first class, and the special effects are spectacular. It carries a PG-13 rating because of the violence.
