The Writers’ Circle premieres an online literary, arts magazine

Posted

When the banking and mortgage crisis struck Rhode Island, many arts organizations were unable to continue programs or free community outreach. One of those organizations was The Writers’ Circle, Inc., which opened in 1993 and had to close its doors in 2010 – but not for long.

A new mission to publish an online literary, arts magazine was born in 2013. And to that end, creative director Rose Pearson and principal editors, Ellen Taylor of Barrington, David McDonald of East Providence, and Heather Sullivan of Portsmouth, edited the online magazine. Sir Speedy Printing and Marketing of Cranston, provided the finishing design to www.riwriterscircle.com.

The Writers’ Circle is proud to premiere its new magazine Authors’ Page at www.riwriterscircle.com with “Words of Wisdom” by Jon Land, Ann Hood, Tom Chandler and Michael Fink. Featured poets are Rick Benjamin, RI Poet Laureate, with poets Dr. Jack Coulehan and Robert Lipgar, from New York, and Noel Patoine from Vermont. Stunning color and designs in vibrant green, ebony black and golden fields compliment bold story telling by Rhode Island writers, Ana Flores, Susan Bergeron, David Howard and Rose Pearson, founder of The Writers’ Circle. Paintings by Carla Belniak from Illinois, sculpture by Ana Flores, and photography by Robert Lipgar add the finishing touch.

Submission guidelines appear on the first page of the magazine. For those who are challenged by a contest in any genre, you’ll find a pictorial prompt. For more information email thewriterscircle@aol.com or call 480-8672.
