The cold couldn’t stop them

At 7:30 a.m. Sunday when many of their peers were still in bed and pleased to be comfy and warm, 16 Toll Gate students reported to Cardi’s Furniture on Route 2 to assist with the offloading and sorting of donations to go to the victims of Haiyan. “I am very proud of our Toll Gate community and how people stepped up to help this cause,” said assistant principal David M. Tober. Other adults from the school who volunteered were teachers James Kennedy, Jack Caswell, John McDonnell, Ken Castellone and Leila Connolly. Student volunteers were Emily Pacheco, Meghan Hanley, Morgan Dugan, Madison Leon,Renagie Asumbrado (native of the Philippines), Bert Lu, Rebecca Fulford, Anthony Corey, Stephen Octeau, Gianna Cormier, Sarah Johnson, Melissa Monti, Sky Teneyck, Joe Bianchi, Chloe Choquette and Eren Oztunc.
