St. Rose of Lima School third, fourth and fifth graders held their in-school science last week. Third graders in the class of Jennifer Liddle focused on models of the solar system. The displays varied from mobiles to motorized systems. Fourth graders in the class of Stacey Wildenhain got to choose between a variety of themes all designed to prove or disprove their hypotheses. Student Emerson White-DeLaCamara assumed that mice fed wholesome food versus junk food would be healthier. The mouse of junk food quickly gained weight while the other died, disproving her hypothesis. Now she has the fat mouse on a diet. And fifth graders under the direction of teacher Noreen Mazzie divided her class into four teams assigning each to design and then build a model of an earthquake-proof structure. The models were put to the test with a lot of table shaking. (Warwick Beacon photos)
