The village beat

A LOCAL FAVORITE: Beverly Looney, who worked one of the grills, holds up a perfectly blackened Saugy for a willing taker.

A BIT OF EVERYTHING: Dave Gammon, with a plate from the wide selection of salads that was served along with hamburgers and hot dogs, at Sunday’s Music in the Village at Woodbury Union Church in Conimicut talks with Lonnie and Virginia Barham. Virginia heads the Conimicut Village Association and is a member of the Bayside Beat that performed in the church.

THRILLED WITH SONG: Ethan LaRobardier, son of Michael and Dawn LaRobardier, got a good view of the musical performances standing on the knees of his mother. He also got a few hugs and kisses.

A few showers couldn’t dampen Music in the Village held Sunday evening at Woodbury Union Church. Playing it safe, after enjoying homemade dishes and hamburgers and hot dogs outside, a group of more than 100 moved to the church sanctuary to hear the Woodbury Chancel Choir, Music Club and the Bayside Beat.
