The wonders of Korea

The Warwick Rotary recently welcomed the Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project for an informative presentation at their weekly luncheon meeting at Chelo’s on Post Road. Members of the Cranston Rotary joined the Warwick club for the meeting. Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project (KSCPP) is a worldwide organization that promotes and educates people on Korean culture and history. KSCPP is also active in publishing and distributing materials on Korea to individuals and institutions. Kyungwon Pak and Younhee Shin represented KSCPP at the meeting. These ladies dressed in traditional Korean attire and provided a Korean dessert to each attendee. Korea remains an unknown to many people in the world. While the aftermath of the Korean War left Korea divided and in the throes of poverty, the resilience of the Korean people has enabled South Korea to possess the 12th largest economy in the world. Ed McDonough, president-elect of Warwick Rotary, organized the visit by KSCPP. “It was a great event that helped bring in one of our largest crowds. I was very impressed when they discussed their technological advances such as refrigerators that can sense when the eggs are low and can reorder more from the market online,” McDonough said. Here, Kyung Pak and Younhee Shin are joined by club president Vanessa Zampini and McDonough. (Submitted photo)
