Thomas J. Murphy, III, age 59, of Country Club Drive, Warwick, died on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the loving husband of Pamela E. (Della Torre) Murphy.
Born in Providence, a son of Teresa M. (Sweeney) Murphy of Cranston and the late Thomas J. Murphy, Jr., he lived in Warwick since 1987. Mr. Murphy was employed by Amica Insurance for 33 years, retiring as an Assistant Vice-President in 2008. He was a graduate of Bishop Hendricken High School and Bryant University. He enjoyed golf, boating, and photography.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter, Melissa A. Lewandowski and her husband Jeffrey J. of Bolingbrook, Ill.; two sons, Michael T. Murphy and his wife Meghan D. of Sharon, Mass. and David J. Murphy and his wife Christyn L. of Hartford, Conn.; three sisters, Karen A. LaCrosse of Springfield, Vir., Ann M. Murphy of Warwick and Janet M. Stark of North Smithfield; two brothers, James F. Murphy of Pittsford, NY and Joseph L. Murphy of Cranston; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 15, at 9 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Ave., Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Peter Church, 350 Fair St., Warwick. Burial will be in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick.
