The Steamship Historical Society of America (SSHSA) has

a limited number of tickets available for its first Ocean Liner Dinner being held on Saturday, May 14 in Warwick.

The evening will be a celebration of the RMS Queen Mary, one of history ’s most renowned ocean liners, in her 80th anniversary year .The ship ’s commodore, Everette Hoard, will be on hand to talk about the ship ’s remarkable career, which ranged from transporting royalty and movie stars across the ocean to supporting the Allies ’ efforts as the Grey Ghost in World War II. Those with even a passing interest in maritime history won ’t want to miss this. The event will begin with an opening reception at the Ship History Center located at 2500 Post Road in Warwick. Inspired by classic ocean liner cuisine, dinner will be held next door at New England Tech’s Center for the Technologies Building and include both live and silent auctions, a presentation by Commodore Hoard, and a tour of the school’s

Shipbuilding/Marine Trades & Advanced Manufacturing Institute (SAMI) facilities.

Tickets are $150 each or $250 per couple. To reserve a spot, or for more information about available sponsorships, call 463-3570 or email blucier@sshsa.org.

Proceeds from the event will support SSHSA as it continues to expand its offerings at its new home in Warwick. The event also will help SSHSA broaden its role as an educator and steward of maritime resources.
