It's already been a strong season for the Warwick girls' hockey team, and it got even better last Wednesday.
The Lady Titans knocked off the Barrington co-op team 4-1 at Portsmouth Abbey High School to win the J.P. Medeiros Jr. Memorial Cup.
Arielle Frank started the game in net and stopped 12 of the 13 shots she faced before being replaced by Kayleen Murphy, who stopped all 11 shots she saw.
Madison Armstrong scored Warwick's first goal in the first period, followed by a goal apiece from sisters Jaime and Alex Given in the second period. Abbey Ellis scored in the third period for the team's fourth goal.
Though the game was a non-league contest, Warwick sits at 6-3 on the season and is second in the DeCosta division, with the fourth most points in Division I.
The Medeiros Cup is held annually in January to raise funds to help Mt. Hope students continue their education past high school. The game is held in memory of J.P. Medeiros, a former Mt. Hope hockey player who was killed in a car accident in 2002.
