Titans rally past Pilgrim

After beating Warwick Vets in its league opener last week, the Toll Gate boys’ basketball team hosted another city rival on Friday night and found itself in a dogfight. Pilgrim took a 29-20 lead into halftime. But in the second half, the Titans out-scored the Pats by 16 points on their way to a 54-47 victory.

Ben Mann scored 19 points to lead the comeback effort. John Murphy added 11 and Zach Mitchell tallied nine. Pilgrim’s Ryan Morris led all scorers with 21 points, with Charles Johnson and Luis Pimental adding nine each.

Toll Gate improved to 2-0 in Division III play and will host fellow unbeaten Juanita Sanchez tonight at 7 p.m. Pilgrim, which fell to 0-2 in league play, will visit Vets tonight at 7 p.m.
