The weeks keep going by, and the Toll Gate boys’ soccer team just keeps winning.

Last week, the Titans knocked off Cranston West 4-0 on Tuesday and then beat East Greenwich 2-0 on Thursday. The two wins elevated Toll Gate to 8-1-4, just one point behind Lincoln for first place in Division II. Toll Gate has 28 points, while the Lions have 29 and are 9-2-2.

The Titans are now in the midst of an eight-game unbeaten streak, as they have gone 5-0-3 since a 2-1 loss to Pilgrim on Sept. 23.

Against West, Jose Beltran scored three times and Nathan DaCosta scored the other. Josh Sandin, Jeremy Cullen and David Moreno-Garcia all pitched in with assists.

Two days later, Sandin scored both goals against the Avengers, giving him 15 on the season. DaCosta had an assist in that game.

Goalkeeper Ezequiel Franco had 10 combined saves in the two games.

Toll Gate has two games left on the season. It is at 4-3-6 Classical today at 5:30 p.m., before finishing the season on Thursday with an important game at home against Coventry at 6 p.m. The Oakers are in fourth place with 26 points, and Toll Gate will likely need to win that game in order to stay in the top three in the division. Mount St. Charles is in third place with 27 points, just one point back of the Titans.

Toll Gate’s chances of taking over first place are slim, as they would need to win both of their games and hope for either a tie or a loss by Lincoln in one of its last two games. The Lions are playing the bottom two teams in the division – Narragansett and Pilgrim – to end the year.

The playoffs start Oct. 29, but the top four teams in the division will get a bye into the quarterfinals. That round is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 2
