Toll Gate falls to Chieftains in D-III finale; turns attention to Vets

The Toll Gate football team failed to finish off its regular season on a high note, falling to previously-winless Ponaganset on Saturday 35-20.

The Chieftains came into the game at 0-7, but jumped out to an early lead and sustained it the whole way through, picking up their first win in the process. The Titans ended their first season in Division III tied for last place at 1-7 with Ponaganset and Hope.

Still, the season isn’t quite over for Toll Gate yet, as it has a non-league game this weekend against Division II rival Warwick Vets. That game is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m.

After that, the Titans also have their Thanksgiving game on the schedule, which is being played on the Wednesday before the holiday at 6 p.m. at Bishop Hendricken.
