Toll Gate wins gold, silver at Performing Arts Consultants Music Festival

Toll Gate Vocal and Instrumental Music programs went to the Performing Arts Consultants Music Festival held in East Windsor, Conn. on May 18.

It was the first time Toll Gate music programs participated in the Performing Arts Consultants Music Festival.

In the history of the Performing Arts Consultants Music Festival, no other music program in New England has ever achieved a perfect score. The Toll Gate High School vocal music program under the direction of Ricco Royster did achieve this not only once, but three times with three different performing ensembles. The Toll Gate Chorale, Show Choir and Stage Band each turned in a Gold Medal performance, earning perfect 100 scores.

The Toll Gate Instrumental Music program under the direction of George Landrie also turned in medal-winning performances. The Toll Gate Symphonic Band achieved a Gold Medal performance with a 94, the Jazz Ensemble scored a 95 for another Gold Medal and the String Quartet achieved a Silver Medal with an 83.

In addition to the group performances, the following Toll Gate music students received individual outstanding soloist awards: Dena Goldblatt, alto sax; Evan Carley, bass; Szabi Kiss, piano; Julia Paolino, vocal; and Tori Uglialoro, vocal.
