Top’s down, hood’s up

Ward 6 Councilwoman Donna Travis found the seat to her liking in the 1976 MGB owned by Ken Smith during last Tuesday’s cruise night at Oakland Beach. The Greater Lions Club of Warwick now hosts the weekly event. It is free to spectators. Participants pay $2 to enter their car or $10 for a summer pass. Proceeds go to eye care, a major charitable cause of the Lions, as well as local charities. While Rob Fontaine, who runs the show, is enthusiastic, he says what has been a pattern of Tuesday rains has made for less than desirable participation and attendance. But then, he adds, there’s a lot more summer. (Warwick Beacon photo)
