Today from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the Warwick Parents As Teachers Program (PAT) will hold their annual family picnic behind Mickey Stevens Sports Complex near the tennis courts.

A Touch-A-Truck Program will be at the event allowing children to explore a school bus, a fire truck and a recycling truck. Parents As Teachers, whose slogan in “Kids don’t come with directions. Parents As Teachers can help,” offers services for children in infancy up until they enter the school system. The programs are free, voluntary and affiliated with the Warwick Public School system. PAT is a home visiting program that educates parents and children alike through, “trained and certified parent educators,” according to the Rhode Island Parent Information Network.
