Tough job of a plow driver

To the Editor:

During the recent blizzard, I, like a lot of people, stayed inside my warm, cozy home. However, there were those who weren’t as fortunate. I’m speaking of the plow drivers. I would like to acknowledge them and thank them for a job well done!

There are those people who take for granted the work plow drivers do. Some even complain. I, for one, appreciate what they have to deal with during a snowstorm. My son is a town work in another state and, as I write this letter, he is still out plowing. He hasn’t been home since Monday morning. He’s exhausted but will remain on the job until it’s done. I won’t go into the details, but let me just say there are many people who don’t appreciate the plow drivers.

I want to personally thank the driver who plowed Marjorie Lane the other night. You did a phenomenal job! My street is a double cul-de-sac, so plowing it is a challenge. Not only did he plow out the street; he made sure the ends of our driveways were also cleared.

I truly appreciate what a plow driver goes through during storms. So, before you start badmouthing about the “lousy plow job,” think about this: These guys work for hours, if not days, on end. They don’t go home at 5. They are out until the job is done. Just because the snow stopped doesn’t mean they can go home. There is cleanup to be done. Walk a mile in their boots before you start complaining.

Now, we have a couple more storms on the horizon, which means these guys don’t get much of a break. Do them a favor – stay off the roads during a storm so they can do their job. You can “look at the scenery” after the storm, when the roads are cleared.

Thank you.
