The 29th annual Red Andrews Tournament kicked off this week with a pair of games Monday and Tuesday. The tournament, which affords athletes who didn’t play on the 12-year-old all-star teams a chance to play in another summer event, is being hosted by Warwick National Little League. All proceeds from the tournament benefit the Multiple Sc lerosis Society, and it has raised between 40 and 50 thousand dollars througout its tenure as a Warwick summer baseball staple. This year’s tournament features six Warwick teams - National, West Side, American, Continental, Apponaug and St. Gregory - as well as North Kingstown and Wickford. As usual, flowers were handed out to all the players prior to their first game, while mayor Scott Avedisian was on hand as well. The tournament will run through the weekend, with consolation games being played Saturday at 12 p.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. before the championship game at 7 p.m.
