The garden alongside the Warwick Area Career and Technical Center got a makeover on Saturday thanks to Toll Gate junior Randy Summers, who took the project on as part of his Eagle Badge requirements. Under his direction, scouts from Troop 7 Buttonwoods (where he is a member), Troop 1 Conimicut, Pack 1 Warwick and Crew 5 Gaspee made up of older scouts terraced the existing garden, installed a walkway, built retaining stone walls and painted the birdbath in Toll Gate colors. Area businesses assisted with the donation of materials as well as food to keep the workers going. Parents joined in, as well as special education teacher Ellen Casey. The expectation is that the school garden club will maintain the area now that it was been cleaned up. (Warwick Beacon photos)
