There is something very soothing, serene and settling about a well-appointed cup of tea. A cup of freshly pressed tea, steeped just long enough to achieve that perfect balance of robustness and delicacy, can help ease you to sleep, or give you that little extra charge you need. As early as the 1600’s, the custom of “High Tea” has been practiced in Europe, from Buckingham Palace to the cozy sitting room of a “commoner”. Now you too can sip a comforting cup of tea or slow roasted coffee right here on these shores in the delightful tea room, Trinity Confections.

Trinity Confections is the inviting creation of Janine McMahon whose gentle and calming nature is just like the delicious tea she sells. Following the inspiration and encouragement of her beloved father, Janine opened this unexpected treasure three years ago after a lifetime of loving all things sweet, all things chocolate, and all things delectable. Along with her three enchanting daughters, Lily, Alice, and Annabelle, McMahon has brought a touch of proper English etiquette and elegance – with just the right amount of charm – to this unique “tea room” on Warwick Avenue.

At Trinity Confections, you will find a huge array of teas, hand-selected by McMahon for their rich flavors and tantalizing aromas; exclusively by Tea Forte and Harney & Sons. Beautifully packaged and with flavors such as English Breakfast, Earl Grey, Chamomile, Belgium Mint, and Roobius Chai, there is something for every taste. There are black, white, green, exotic, and herbal teas available here, as well as the rich coffees of locally produced Ocean Coffee Roasters. While you can have all of these teas served to you in the ultimate tea party here at Trinity Confections, with its china tea cups, cloth napkins and doting service, they are also available for sale along with innumerable other accessories and gift ideas.

While the selection of teas are enticing, Janine is best known for her hand-crafted chocolates (made with the finest, richest imported chocolates and home made caramel), home baked cookies (favorites: chocolate chip, iced spice and “teapot” sugar) and scones (chocolate chip, lemon raisin and cranberry orange), as well as her savory dishes of soups (favorite: refreshing watermelon Gazpacho), quiche and traditional finger sandwiches. Served up for tea time, these will have you returning again and again.

The best part of Trinity Confections is its parties! For any group of up to 25 people, and with an advance reservation, you will be treated to a truly unforgettable experience here. From High Teas to bridal parties to children’s teas to brunch, there is no more unique place to celebrate life’s goodness than at Trinity Confections.

Trinity Confections is located at 1625 Warwick Avenue in the Gateway Plaza. Hours are Tues – Saturday, 11:00 to 4:00. Reservations required for all meal service. Book your next special party at 681-4902.
