Trinity hosts Blessing of the Animals Oct. 7

This Sunday, Oct. 7, Trinity Church in Pawtuxet Village will hold a blessing of the animals at 8 and 10 a.m. Pets may attend church in the company of their people, provided that dogs are kept on leashes and cats, bunnies, birds and other critters are in carriers. If your companion animal does not like other animals or is too anxious or ill, bring a photo to be blessed.

Special guests will include Blaze and Spirit, dogs being trained by prisoners at the ACI for assignment to wounded war veterans. Dogs spend weekdays in prison and weekends with families on the outside. NEADS Canines for Combat Veterans program volunteers will explain what they are learning to do for veterans recovering from combat injuries.

A Warwick Animal Shelter volunteer will bring an animal or two that are up for adoption. Guests are encouraged to bring a donation of canned dog food.

Trinity Church is located at 139 Ocean Avenue on the Cranston-Warwick line.
