Trinity to host first annual season kickoff party

Trinity Repertory Company invites the public to celebrate the performing arts in Rhode Island and beyond as the host of the first annual season kickoff party, Saturday, August 22. Across two stages and six hours, 30-plus theater and dance companies, music ensembles and independent artists will gather at Trinity Rep to share previews of upcoming work while re-connecting with loyal fans and introducing themselves to new ones. The party will also feature an interactive outdoor art installation by Tape Art, a variety of food trucks, tours of Trinity Rep’s historic building and more. “Fall is like New Year’s for theater and performing arts organizations, so we decided it was time to throw a party and celebrate that,” remarks Rebecca Noon, Trinity Rep’s Community Engagement Coordinator. “The Rhode Island region has an incredibly vibrant arts scene and it’s a thrill and an honor to have all of these performers, producers and fans come together at Trinity Rep.”

Performing participants include 2nd Story Theatre, Academy Players of RI, The AntiGravity Theatre Project, AS220’s Blackbox, Burbage Theatre Company, Bring Your Own Improv, Counter-Productions Theatre Company, ECAS Theater, Epic Theatre Company, Festival Ballet Providence, Live Bait, The Manton Avenue Project, Meridian Project, Mixed Magic Theatre, Student Ensemble from Achievement First Providence, New Inca Son, OUT LOUD Theatre, Providence Improv Guild, Rhode Island Black Storytellers, Rick Burkhardt, RISE, Sandra Feinstein Gamm Theatre, Seth Lapore, Strange Attractor, Stray Creatives, Tenderloin Opera Company, The Players (at Barker Playhouse), Trinity Repertory Company, The Rhode Island Shakespeare Theater, Rhode Island Ukulele Armada, The Wilbury Theatre Group and Wilbury New Works-Roadhouse: The Musical. The State Theater of Rhode Island, Trinity Repertory Company is now in its 52nd season. Since its founding in 1963, Trinity Repertory Company has been one of the most respected regional theaters in the country. Featuring the last permanent resident acting company in America, Trinity Rep presents a balance of world premiere, contemporary, and classic works for an estimated annual audience of approximately 145,000. Since 1963, the theater has produced 63 world premieres, mounted national and international tours, and, through its MFA program, trained hundreds of new actors and directors.

This season marks the 49th year of Project Discovery, Trinity Rep’s pioneering educational outreach program. Last season, Trinity Rep’s educational programs reached over 16,000 Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut students through matinees as well as in-school residencies and workshops. Brown University/Trinity Rep offers professional training for actors and directors in a three-year MFA program.
