‘Twenty Fingers’ closes RIC’s Masterworks Concerts series

Rhode Island College’s Wednesday Masterworks Concerts presents “Twenty Fingers” with dual pianists Michael Lewin and Judith Lynn Stillman Wednesday, April 10 at 1 p.m. in Sapinsley Hall at the Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts.

The popular concert series treated its audience to a dazzling concert last week, with Stillman performing with the acclaimed Lydian String Quartet, featuring works by Schumann. The celebrated pianist returns to play with Michael Lewin in an hour-long concert featuring works by Mozart, Schubert, Poulenc and Dvorak.

We have been attending the concerts for years and are always amazed at the combination of local talent and world-renowned guest artists. A number of assisted living facilities bring their residents to the concerts, which are attended by students, faculty and music lovers from around the state.

A $10 donation is suggested, and it is a bargain. The artists remain after the concert for a lively question and answer session.

Rhode Island College offers a number of free and inexpensive concerts throughout the year, including the Muir Chamber Music Quartet, which will be performing their last concert of the season on April 8 at 7:30 p.m. Pianist Ann Schein will perform on May 14. New York City’s Ballet Revolucion will perform in Roberts Hall on Tuesday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets may be purchased on line at www.ric/edu.
