Lamonte Thomas, a professional basketball player, two-time collegiate All-American and NCAA leading scorer (across all divisions), is conducting an elite spring training basketball program at the Met School in Providence, RI.

“My mission is to utilize my extensive experience as a professional basketball player and two-time collegiate All-American and host elite training in an effort to offer a positive outlet for youth and to develop student-athletes both on and off the court,” said Thomas, a former All-American at Johnson & Wales who just completed his second season playing as a professional in Europe. “The focus is to develop young players in an effort to enhance their basketball skills and knowledge of the game.”

The Lamonte Thomas Basketball Skills Academy kicked off on Monday, April 7 at the Met School, 325 Public St., Providence, R.I. The sessions will be held each Monday and Wednesday, 6-7:30 p.m. through June 20, 2014. The program is open to boys and girls, 10-18 years-old. Interested participants can register for one or multiple sessions.

Thomas, a 6’2 guard, was a two-time All-American at Johnson & Wales. The former Greater Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Year was the NCAA leading scorer (all-divisions) as a senior in 2011. He went on to play as a professional in Europe and has led the league in Germany in scoring during the 2013-14 season. The league’s top guard last season, Thomas averaged 25 point per game this year for Wolfenbuttel and poured in a career-high 54 in a game in a tough overtime loss to Schweim.

Thomas’s upcoming spring training program is designed for players looking to refine and elevate their skills. Instruction will be focused and geared to each individual’s on-court skills, game-situation knowledge and conditioning in an effort to get each player to the next level.

Space is limited for the program. For more information or a mail-in registration form contact: Lamontethomasbasketball@gmail.com or Deb Weinreich at 401-580-3106. Visit www.lamontethomasbasketball.com.
