The U.S. Submarine Veterans, Inc (USSVI) – Rhode Island Base will be holding a memorial service to remember the 3,632 men who are known to have been lost while in service in the U.S. Submarine Force during World War II aboard the 52 U.S. Submarines lost. Twenty-one Rhode Islanders were lost on those boats during World War II. Service also pays honor to all Rhode Island Submarine Veterans who served on submarines during World War II.

The memorial service is scheduled to be held at the World War II Submarine Memorial at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5. The Bishop Hendricken High School Young Men’s Choir will provide the music. Services are open to the public and we invite any and all family and friends of fallen shipmates to attend. We also encourage all individuals qualified in submarines to attend. For more information, contact Charlie Mueller, RMCM (SS), retired base commander, at cmueller51@verizon.net or call 377-9089.
