After sneaking into the playoffs thanks to a hard-fought 9-7 victory in its regular season finale, the Warwick Vets girls’ lacrosse team saw its year come to a close on Thursday in the quarterfinal round of the Division II playoffs.
Against top-seeded Lincoln School, which was undefeated throughout the regular season, the No. 8 seeded ’Canes fell behind 13-2 at halftime and never recovered, eventually losing 19-4. Maggie McNamara and Larson Bennett had six goals each for the Lynx, while Vets got goals from Savannah Hersey, Nicole Luiz, Ricki Beaufort and Emily Almonte. Luiz also added an assist.
In net, Katelen Pick stopped eight shots.
Lincoln School advanced to the D-II semifinals, which will be held on Tuesday.
