Janice Wray, who is pursuing a master’s degree in nursing education at URI’s College of Nursing and is one of three recipients of a Catherine T. Murray Scholarship from the Ocean State Center for Independent Living, talks with OSCIL board vice president Jose Labaton outside OSCIL’s annual meeting Thursday at the Warwick Public Library. Wray suffered a spinal injury in an automobile accident in 2012. She spoke of her dream to help others and how her situation has required her to do things “a little differently.” Also receiving a Murray scholarship were Samantha Collins and Brittany Martin, who both are enrolled at URI’s School of Nursing. Both also have been challenged by disabilities. As it turns out, Labaton was the recipient of a Murray scholarship some years ago. (Warwick Beacon photo)
