Unobstructed historic view
Warwick Beacon photo

Turn the clock back to June of 1772 and you would have seen the British schooner HMS Gaspee either aground on Namqid Point, or on the morning of June 10th her charred remains in the waters. Today, thanks to a $10,000 grant from the DEM, the point – now Gaspee Point – is visible from an overlook on Narragansett Parkway. The funds were used to clear trees and underbrush for a view of the historic site.
