VNA recognizes efforts of visiting nurses

VNA of Care New England joined hundreds of organizations across the country in celebrating National Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) Week, May 6-10. Last Wednesday employees were honored at a special event at the Crowne Plaza for their longevity, dedication and tireless efforts to deliver high-quality home health, hospice and palliative care to elderly and disabled patients in homes and community-based settings throughout Rhode Island. 

Nancy Roberts, president and chief executive officer who celebrated 30 years of service to the organization commented, “Whether you answer the phone, provide back end support services in our business office, administer flu shots at public clinics or provide direct care to our patients in their homes, you are a critical part of what we do 365 days each year, caring for Rhode Islanders and their families with compassion, understanding and commitment. I am honored to call all of our employees my colleagues.” 

Celebrating one year of continuous service is Kayla Arpin, Sandra Beauchaine, Gail Bell, Amy Berghman, Deb Borrelli, Mary Brady, Carol Bramley, Byron Carlson, Kat Courtot, Wendy Delarosa, Donna Demers, Sandra Descoteaux, Melanie Gambardella, Jennifer Gillis, Susan Green, Dawn Hanley. Melanie Reppucci, Linda Saleh, Ruth Scott, Melissa Simmons, Suzette Sousa, Nicole Toussaint and Tek Leng Ung.

Lois Hamilton, Maria “Ivonne” Lopes and Kathleen O’Neill celebrated five years of service. Those reaching the decade mark are Kirsten Baughan, Kim Benoit, Alicia Cook, Christina Kelly and Brenna O’Keefe.

One employee, Linda Austin, celebrated 20 years and Linda Goldman reached 25 years of service. Nancy Roberts is the second longest tenured employee at 30 years while Joanne Chaffee celebrated 35 years of dedicated service to VNA of Care New England.

Also recognized at the event were Betty Franko for five years of participation in the VNA of Care New England Flu Program and Lynne Giorgio, Karen Lavey and Ginny Talbot for 10 years of service. Special thanks was extended to Elaine James and Pat Sarazan who are retiring from the flu program after many years of immunizing thousands of individuals against the flu. 

Pauline Bonin, Georgia DeGeorge and Janet Reynolds celebrated their retirement as they were honored for a combined 80 years of service.
