In an effort to help potential volunteers in the Warwick Public Schools comply with the Rhode Island law requiring state criminal background checks for school volunteers, Volunteers of Warwick Schools, in cooperation with John Brown Francis School PTA, Scott School PTA and Lippitt School PTO will hold three events to provide an opportunity for interested Warwick residents to authorize our facilitation of their background checks. Updated background checks must be submitted annually in order to volunteer in any school capacity.

School volunteers can choose to participate in a state criminal background check performed either by the Warwick Police Department, which is free of charge to Warwick residents, or by the BCI Unit of the State of Rhode Island Department of Attorney General, which carries a fee of $5 paid by the volunteer. The John Brown Francis PTA event will be held at John Brown Francis Elementary School, 325 Miantonomo Drive, Warwick, on Monday, June 2 from 5-6:30 p.m. The Scott School PTA event will be held at Harold F. Scott Elementary School, 833 Centerville Road, Warwick, on Wednesday, June 11 from 6-7:30 p.m., and the Lippitt School PTO event will be held on Tuesday, June 17 from 4-7 p.m. in conjunction with their blood drive.
