Vernon E. Hazard, Jr., 60, of Warwick, passed December 17, 2013 at home in Sparrows Point.
Born in Groton, Connecticut, a son of Vernon Hazard, Sr. and the late Phyllis (Altemose) Hazard he had lived in Warwick for many years. Mr. Hazard is known for his achieving the rank of black belt in Jujitsu without sight. He taught at the Yang Ki Yin School of JiuJitsu in Coventry. He also was associated with the YMCA.
Besides his father, he leaves a son Shawn P. Hazard of Providence; 2 sisters; Sandy Hazard-Ford of Jeffersonville, Indiana and Kathy Hazard of San Francisco, Caligornia and a brother Gary Hazard of Clearwater, Florida.
Funeral service Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the First Unitarian Universalist Church, One Benevolent St., Providence, RI 02906. Arrangements with the Stapleton Family Funeral Home, Cranston.
