The Warwick Vets softball team lost its season finale on Saturday 7-3 to Cranston West. With the loss, the ’Canes fell to 2-16 in Division I. The Falcons improved to 10-8.

Naomi Franzen went the distance on the mound for Vets, while seven different players had a hit in the losing effort.

Vets scored two in the first inning to go up 2-0, but couldn’t hold the lead. It also pushed across a run in the seventh and brought the tying run to the plate before falling short of a comeback.

Even with Vets’ sub-.500 record, it did qualify for the postseason. The playoffs begin on Thursday, with Vets’ opponent still to be determined.
