On the heels of an 8-0 loss to Bay View last week, the Warwick Vets took the field in a rainstorm on Tuesday afternoon and fell behind Mt. Hope 1-0 in the first half.
Instead of packing it in, the ’Canes surged to their first win of the season.
Lauren Almonte and Katie Evans scored second-half goals and goalie Katelen Pick made 10 saves as Vets topped the Huskies 2-1. Sloan Kinney and Larissa Paolantonio assisted on the goals.
Mt. Hope came in with a 2-3-2 record, which included a win over Toll Gate.
Vets will try to make it two wins in a row today when it takes on Cranston West, the only winless team in Division I. That game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Vets.
