WINNING TEAM: Senior Jordan Allegretta is organizing The Night of Exotic Food event at Warwick Vets with help from junior Amelia Hinsley and seniors James Cook and Frank Triolo. Funds raised will benefit the Tim Packham and Corrine Cole Scholarship Fund.

In an effort to complete a graduation requirement, Jordan Allegretta will host a multi-national food banquet to raise money for the Tim Packham and Corrine Cole Scholarship Fund.

The Night of Exotic Food will run from 7 to 9 p.m. in the cafeteria at Warwick Veterans High School on Friday, April 12 and provide the opportunity for attendees to taste a variety of dishes from all over the world.

The food, which is going to be prepared by Allegretta and a group of volunteer students, will include Greek, Spanish, Thai and Swiss options. Allegretta is also considering adding a Polish dish to the menu. The menu includes Greek pizza, gazpacho, non-alcoholic Sangria, vegan Thai noodles and chocolate fondue.

All of the items served will be vegetarian-friendly, and one dish will even be vegan. Allegretta, a member of the Warwick Vets track team, chose to keep the menu vegetarian to go along with his research paper, which looked at omnivore versus vegan runners.

Allegretta is hosting this event to fulfill the senior graduation project requirement at Warwick Vets. He chose to host a banquet because he knows a great deal about cooking since his father is a chef.

“It’s relaxing,” said Allegretta. “I cook for my family.”

In addition to a night of delicious food, there will be live music provided by two of Allegretta’s fellow Warwick Vets students, junior Amelia Hinsley and senior James Cook. Cook is using the night to promote his senior project as well. He created a CD demo and will be selling the CD that evening; all proceeds he makes will be donated to the Warwick Vets music department.

In addition to performing, Cook and Hinsely will be assisting Allegretta in preparing the food for the evening.

“Jordan taught us what we would have to do,” said Cook.

Fellow Warwick Vets senior Frank Triolo will also be cooking for the event.

Tickets will cost $10 and can be purchased at the door on the night of the event. Attendees can also purchase tickets prior to the event by contacting Allegretta by emailing him at dolphins1010@yahoo.com.
