Virginia E. (Martel) Turner, R.N. of Broken Arrow, OK, formerly of Warwick, RI passed away on July 16, 2016. She was the widow of George I. Turner, her husband of 44 years.

Born September 15, 1928, Virginia was the daughter of the late Sue M. (Delp) Simpson and the late Freeman E. Martel and the step-daughter of the late Walter H. Simpson. Virginia graduated from the Newport Hospital School of Nursing in 1951 and worked for 35 years at Women and Infants Hospital. She was the past president of the East Greenwich AARP chapter and past president of the Cedarette of Tall Cedars of Lebanon as well a Sunday school teacher for 35 years.

This wonderful daughter, sister, and mother leaves behind a brother: Thomas E Simpson and wife, Carol, Warwick, RI, a daughter: Barbara Ghigliotty married to David Ghigliotty of Warwick, RI as well as four sons: George N. Turner, married to Janice, living in Broken Arrow, OK, Thomas S. Turner married to Patricia, in Warwick, RI, Neal F. Turner currently residing in OK and Gary S. Turner married to Leticia, and residing in Euless, TX. Virginia was the grandmother to ten: Leah, Eric, Justin, Jessica, Cameron, Michael, Rachael, Dillon, Sabrina, and Jaclyn; in addition to many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister: Sue Loretta Drouin and a brother: Kenneth W. Simpson.

Relatives and friends were invited to visitation and Funeral Service on July 23, 2016 in the Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Graveside burial was in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
