‘Voices of Peace’ to celebrate MLK’s legacy

The Cranston Interfaith Clergy Association is busily preparing for its second annual Dr. Martin Luther King Celebration, to be held at the Park Theatre on Monday, Jan. 19 at 7 p.m.

“Kol Pacem: Voices of Peace” is an interfaith, musical celebration of King’s legacy.

It will feature the Cranston Interfaith Chorus and Band under the direction of Dr. Joel Gluck – conductor of Shireinu, the Jewish Community Chorus – accompanied by Bob Nolan, associate minister of music at Woodridge Congregational Church.

More than a dozen songs will be performed throughout the evening, spanning all faiths and musical genres, with solo performances and a variety of instrumental accompaniments. The Cranston Interfaith Choir spotlights the talents of both youth and adult choral members from ministries of faith across the city.

The keynote speaker for “Voices of Peace” will be the Rev. Rosalie Norman-McNaney, an ordained American Baptist minister who formerly served in Cranston and is the author of “Keep the Fire Alive.” Featured guest artists include Terrrell Osborne, host of “In the Spirit,” Southern New England’s No. 1 gospel program on 95.5 WBRU, and the “Dynamic New Force Steppin’ Drill Team.”

Additionally, students from Craston High School West’s choir will be performing along with the Interfaith Chorus.

The Park Theatre is located at 848 Park Ave. in Cranston. Admission to the event is free, and all ages are welcome.
