Last week, Zach Librizzi of Warwick, a senior at Saint Raphael Academy, was presented with the 2016 Prudential Spirit of Community Medallion. Librizzi has logged over 300 hours of volunteering in his four years of high school. Diagnosed with diabetes as a young child, a lot of his community service work is with other children, newly diagnosed with diabetes themselves. He helps these young children understand their diagnosis with tips on how to stay healthy. Similarly, Librizzi also volunteers as a camp counselor for both sports, religious and diabetes summer camps. At a school assembly, Librizzi was honored by principal Dan Richard, his family, and Prudential representative Anestis Dialopoulus. Students heard a letter if congratulations from Attorney General Peter Kilmartin and viewed Librizzi’s application video. Librizzi will now travel with other Community Service award recipients to Washington, D.C. in May. There he is also eligible to receive presidential recognition. Pictured are Zach’s father, Chris, Prudential representative Anestis Diakopoulus, Zach, and Zach’s mother, Nazira.
