Volunteering big

With two weeks to go before it ends, the Warwick Public Library’s “Dream Big…Read” program for pre-teens has been a success for both participants and teen volunteers who have been running it. A total of 1,562 kids are enrolled in the summer program that offers incentives for reading like free books and tickets to the Paw Sox. The teen volunteers each put in two and a half hours a week. They help keep track of the numbers of books read and ask questions of the kid readers about what they liked about the books. The program ends with a grand drawing for a Kindle.
