Volunteers for yard duty at Gen. Nathaniel Greene homestead

Posted

Last August a small group of dedicated volunteers descended on the greatly overgrown 10-acre field below the Gen. Nathanael Greene Homestead and in one day, with chainsaws and a chipper, accomplished wonders, according to Dave Procaccini, the president of the association that maintains the historic site.

“We still have a long way to go clearing this field and I ask you to volunteer your time to help us reclaim more of the Homestead property and re-opening our long lost view of the Pawtuxet River,” wrote Procaccini.

“On Nov. 2 at 8:30 a.m., we will be spending the day cutting more of this field, I hope you can join us. All volunteers are welcome. If you have it and know how to use it, please bring [your] chainsaws or bow-saws, trucks, chippers and a willingness to work as a team. Please forward [this] to any and all that may be interested in helping out.”

For more information or if you would like to volunteer, contact Dave Procaccini at nathanaelgreenehmst@gmail.com.

The Gen. Nathanael Greene Homestead is a 501(c)3 non-profit that relies entirely on donations and a small core of dedicated volunteers. The Homestead is at 50 Taft St. in Coventry. Visit us at www.nathanaelgreenehomestead.org or at www.facebook.com/GeneralNathanaelGreeneHomestead.
