(Violent serial

killer flick)

Liam Neeson makes one determined, tenacious private eye.

This time he is tracking down two perverted serial killers who specialize in relatives of drug dealers. The former cop, who quit the force after a shootout gone wrong while he was under the influence, “does favors for people and sometimes receives gifts for doing them.” His latest favor grows in intensity as two sickos kidnap women, grab big ransoms from drug dealers and kill the women after chopping them up. This one is not for those with weak stomachs.

Our hero (or anti-hero) attends AA meetings in between pursuing his prey. He gets a little help from a street smart black kid (Astro) and some drug dealers, working on the edge to catch the killers.

The story takes place in 1999, when Y2K was the headline news, but seems to have little to do with the story. As Matt (Neeson) gets closer to solving the crimes and catching the killers, we watch their dastardly deeds carried out in a series of flashbacks...not always pleasant to watch.

The final scenes of pursuit have an AA member reciting the 12 Steps in the background, which don’t always fit with what is going on.

If you like action, you’ll get plenty of it in this uneven, weird, violent private eye/serial killer movie.

Rated a big R because of the violence, profanity and brief nudity.
